The N90 makes capturing memorable images a breeze with an array of features designed to assist the photographer with metering and even composition. The multiple-shot self-timer increases the odds of getting the right shot the first time, and the 72 image display helps keep pictures organized. With the built-in speedlight and full compatibility with Nikons suite of AF AF-I, AF-D and AF-S lenses, the N90 can capture birthday parties and mountain climbing expeditions equally well.
The Live View feature gives shooters a real-time image on the LCD. In addition to options for hand-held and tripod mounted shots, Live View offers other useful options such as Face Priority autofocus. Live View is particularly useful in situations where the photographer chooses to frame and shoot without using the optical viewfinder.
Nikon 3D Color Matrix Metering II
In addition to standard spot metering and center-weighted metering, the N90s 3D Color Matrix Metering evaluates color, contrast, focal distance, and many other factors according to its immense photo database to select the optimum settings. The feature also includes Scene Recognition, and allows the photographer to set the size of the center-weighted meter area.
Built-in flash with TTL speedlight command capacity
The built-in flash has a variety of settings, including curtain synchronization, red-eye reduction, slow synch, and more. In addition to its many uses as a stand-alone speedlight, the built-in flash can also serve as a TTL speedlight commander. Up to two groups of external flashes can be coordinated and controlled.
High-contrast scenes are no longer hard to capture. The Active-D Lighting feature analyzes scenes and suggests camera settings so the captured image mirrors what the human eye sees. The feature can remain activated for constant assistance, or it can be deactivated for more creative control. The system combines multiple shots to create one outstanding image with a full range of light and shadows. Active-D Lighting is even suitable for moving subjects.
Face Detection System
The versatile Scene Recognition system when set to Face Detection Autofocus detects up to five separate faces and focuses on the closest. Now without time consuming metering and manual focusing the most important subjects, the people, stand out in dazzling images.
The optional GP-1 GPS Unit incorporates latitude, longitude, elevation, and time into the photo data. The geo-location tags work well with ViewNX and other current Nikon imaging software.
