WAAS - What Is It? The Best Fix You Can Get!WAAS (Wide Area Augmentation System) is a network of ground-based stations spread across the United States that correct any errors in the Global Positioning System. After receiving data from sub-stations, master stations correct for satellite drift, Selective Availability, and atmospheric conditions, then send this corrected data to two geostationary satellites. These satellites then broadcast the data to your WAAS-capable GPS reciever. The result is a Differential GPS system that pinpoints your position to within 3 meters. The new Raystar 120 receives GPS WAAS differential signals, offering GPS accuracy, down to 2.5 meters! It receives the satellite signals, and calculates position, speed, course, and other navigation information. It then sends this information for display on chartplotters, radars, and fishfinders in the universal NMEA language. The remarkably low-profile housing can be rail, pole or deck mounted (mount not included). The Raystar 120 is a 12-channel GPS receiver with a 2 channel WAAS receiver built in. Dimensions: 4.3'' H x 5'' Diameter.
