Comments about Aiptek 720P High Definition Camcorder w/ Optical Zoom:
This camera provides a very nice clear picture. The controls are easy to operate and its very straight forward. I would buy this camera over the little flip camera that everyone thinks is good. Its video is half the quality. This camera shoots 1280x720. Even if you down convert to the standard 720x480, you will get a much better looking picture than the Flip which records at 640x480.Controls are ok, limited and straight forwardConnections: You'll be able to connect to your tv or usb 2, or pop in the SD card on your computer. No HDMI connectionFocus: A little slow, but accurateSound: POOR. For some reason they put the mic on the back of the camera so that you hear the shooter well (if he talks) but not your subject. This needs to be resolved or add a mic input.Pictures: It takes good pictures. Clear & accurate. Color is a little less saturated than a regular camera but that is easily fixed in a photo editor.Overall: Again, this is a good pocket camera. I wouldn't use it as my main one, but if you are going to the beach, a picnic, or want to shoot a few minutes of a party or use it as "B" roll footage, its very good. When shooting TALKING subjects, you need to make sure they are talking loudly. Otherwise you'll spend time in an audio editor trying to get something decent.I would suggest you get the mini tripod with it and use it as much as possible to keep the shaking to a minimum.Bottom Line: Don't spend more than [$] as Aiptek now makes a full HD 1920x1080p camera for about [$] Personally I would go with their new one.Its a good way to get into HD Video without spending a grand[@]
